John Deere 17 P-Tier
Compact Excavator
- Net Power: 10.8 kW (14.5 hp)
- Max. Digging Depth: 2.19 m (7 ft. 2 in.)
- Operating Weight: 1720 kg (3,790 lb.)
Features

Overview
The 17 P can be equipped from the factory with 1 or 2 sets of auxiliary hydraulic lines. Whether the job calls for complex attachments with multiple hydraulic functions or you prefer dedicated auxiliary lines for each hydraulic attachment, the 17 P will accommodate any need. Auxiliary hydraulics are controlled by rollers on the joystick and flow adjustment knobs are under the arm rest(s) allow simple and quick adjustments on the fly.
Benefits
- Ergonomic Control Layout:
- Aux 1 on Right Joystick & Aux 2 on Left Joystick: This configuration places critical auxiliary controls within easy reach, allowing operators to manipulate attachments with precision and minimal effort. This design reduces fatigue and enhances productivity during long working hours.
- Standard Auxiliary Flow/Pressure Adjustment:
- The adjustment knob is located behind the right joystick for on-the-fly modifications to hydraulic flow and pressure. This feature enhances the performance of various attachments, enabling operators to optimize their settings for different tasks effortlessly.

Overview
NEW Deere, mechanical fixed pin coupler. Hook the dead pin with the coupler, curl, and insert the draw pin. Finally, secure with a safety key. This allows operation in a dig or shovel configuration with a simple low-cost coupler option.
For customers who still want wedge-style compatibility, wedge coupler/adapters will be available through field kits and service parts.
Benefits
- Strong, simple, and durable.
- Enables the operator to easily turn bucket around to a shovel position, useful in undermining operations.
- Strong Connection: Minimizes movement for precise digging and lifting.
- User-Friendly: Simple manual pin insertion for easy attachment changes.
- Ideal for Heavy Tasks: Enhances performance in excavation, grading, and utility work.
- A simple, dealer installed field kit maintains wedge-style compatibility available for customers who have existing buckets and attachments from previous generations and series of machines.

Overview
The standard variable-width undercarriage can be hydraulically retracted to navigate narrow pathways and tight quarters, then easily repositioned for solid stability, to work where handwork used to be required.
- Better Maneuverability: The undercarriage can be hydraulically retracted and backfill blade wings fold in, allowing the machine to fit into even tighter spaces and crowded areas.
- Machine is 1295 mm (51 in.) at its widest and can be as narrow as 990 mm (39 in.) when needed.
- Increased Stability: When extended, it provides better stability during operations like lifting or digging.

Control Pattern and Track Adjustments
The pattern changer is conveniently located under the seat. This placement allows for easy access while keeping the control area organized and unobstructed.
You will also find a lever that allows you to adjust the tracks. To do this:
- Disable hydraulics before making any undercarriage adjustments.
- Switch the track mode lever from blade control to track control mode.
- Use the blade lever to adjust the tracks narrower or wider to your preference.
- Once adjustments are complete, switch the lever back to regain control of the front blade.
Overview

Engineered for Quiet Power, Compliance, and Efficiency

Every unit is equipped with super-quiet Yanmar engines that meet Final Tier 4 (FT4) emissions standards. These engines deliver reliable power and fuel efficiency while maintaining environmental compliance.
Additional details

- A track adjuster is located in each track frame and can be adjusted using a standard high pressure grease gun.
Benefits
- Meets FT4 Requirements Without Aftertreatment (on lower horsepower models), reducing complexity and maintenance costs.
- Seamless Regeneration: No visible interruptions during DPF cleanings, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
- Auto Idle & Auto Shutdown: Automatically reduces fuel consumption during inactivity. Electronic Throttle Control: Provides precise engine response for smoother operation.
- Altitude Mode: Push-button optimization for high-altitude performance (5,000+ feet).
- 1000-Hour Valve Lash Intervals: Extended service intervals reduce downtime and labor costs.
For customers who want a block heater or engine oil drain valve, it will be available through field kits and service parts
